Winter temperatures in Yorktown range from daytime highs around 50 degrees to nighttime lows in the 20s, while summer highs are between 85 and 90 degrees.

Rich History & New Adventures in Yorktown

Yorktown and the surrounding areas offer military families a wide variety of exciting things to see and do. Visit the site of the first permanent English settlement in North America at historic Jamestown, walk the riverfront where America won its independence in Yorktown, and transport yourself in time to Colonial Williamsburg.

For outdoor enthusiasts, Yorktown has a range of options that include swimming, crabbing, canoeing, kayaking, and mountain biking. A number of parks along the beach and river provide excellent wildlife watching. The Caledon Natural Area in Caledon State Park is home to one of the largest bald eagle habitats on the East Coast in the summertime.

Yorktown features fun attractions like Busch Gardens Williamsburg, Go-Karts Plus, and Ripley’s Believe It or Not! Odditorium. The city also boasts several beautiful golf courses and plenty of dining and shopping destinations.
