Liberty employee-owners consistently demonstrate a desire to go above and beyond for the benefit of others, supporting their fellow team members thrive in both their careers and in their lives outside of the office.  

Sandy Guy, district manager of Liberty’s Bayview Hills Community, recently experienced this level of support from her colleagues first-hand. Sandy’s son, Josiah, was born with Microtia Atresia, a condition where the outer ear and ear canal do not fully develop, resulting in significant hearing loss. After consulting several specialists and undergoing multiple tests, Josiah’s care team determined that he was an excellent candidate for surgery to improve hearing. There was just one hurdle – the doctor’s office required full payment before the procedure, but the insurance company would only reimburse the cost after the surgery was performed. 

Knowing the challenge that she was facing, one of Sandy's colleagues submitted an application on her behalf to Giving Liberty, a charity fund that offers financial assistance to Liberty employee-owners who are experiencing an unplanned life-altering circumstance. Funded solely by donations from Liberty team members, Giving Liberty has dispersed more than $250,000 to employee-owners in need, providing essential support to their colleagues during the most difficult times in their lives.  

“The support that we received through Giving Liberty has left an indelible mark on our family, especially Josiah. He is more confident than he’s ever been,” says Sandy. “Thanks to the generosity of my colleagues, my son is going to have a normal life, and I will always be grateful.”
