At Liberty, we’re committed to creating an outstanding quality of life for service members and regularly collaborate with partners to create innovative, fun opportunities that allow our residents to engage with their neighbors and build community. That’s why we’re excited to announce that Liberty is a founding partner of Major League Soccer’s newest team, San Diego FC (SDFC).
This collaboration is rooted in a shared commitment to honoring the military community and strengthening support systems for military families. Just as SDFC embraces the state of flow – a symbol of how we perform at peak level while embracing the unique rhythms of life – Liberty understands the changes and flexibility that are required in military life and works to support residents as they navigate these challenges. Throughout the season, Liberty and SDFC will honor the ways that military presence has shaped San Diego’s culture.
Through our partnership, Liberty presented the inaugural SDFC Battle of the Bases match, pitting Naval Base San Diego against Marine Corps Air Station Miramar in a friendly competition. It was a close match, but Naval Base San Diego pulled away with the win and were honored by the Club and Liberty’s CEO, Philip Rizzo, with a trophy presentation at SDFC’s Military Appreciation Night. More than 250 residents also joined us and cheered the Club as they earned an exciting win!
Liberty will also recognize a “Hero of the Match” at each home game, saluting military members and their families for their contributions and service to our country. Throughout the season, families will be recognized at halftime on the field and provided with an unforgettable matchday experience. Some of the families recognized so far include:

Liberty will host group events for residents at matches, offering military families the opportunity to build connections and create memorable experiences together at Snapdragon Stadium. We are so proud to work with SDFC to recognize the importance of military families and celebrate their service!
