Liberty Military Housing (Liberty) officials, together with garrison leaders at Joint Base Lewis McChord (JBLM) in Washington, recently celebrated the grand opening of a first-of-its-kind playground that offers families additional space to play and challenge themselves.
The play area is located in the Evergreen community on Lewis Main and challenges children to climb, swing, and leap across it as an obstacle course. The park features a rope wall, floating steps, and even a ninja wall, offering opportunities for everyone in the family to put their bodies to the test.
Colonel Kent Park, JBLM commander, was also on hand for the opening of the playground and took on a challenge from the kids in the crowd to test out the equipment.
“I know that everyone in this community is going to enjoy this, I sure did,” Park said. “It’s great to see such a fun park created for families here at JBLM. A big thank you goes to Liberty Housing officials for putting the time, energy and resources into bringing something like this into fruition.”
This development is part of Liberty’s investment of $232K in 2023 to create more opportunities for our military families to live healthier lifestyles. It also opened just in time for our national Take the Challenge - Take Charge program, which took place from April 22 to May 1 and promotes active lifestyles for our military families and their children.
We are proud of this enhancement that we’ve been able to make to this community and are committed to providing additional spaces like this one so that our military members and their families can thrive.
