Ten years ago, in August 2014, Liberty team members voted and adopted our core values. Long before becoming an employee-owned company, these core values fostered a sense of ownership and alignment within our company. The core values chosen reflect the collective beliefs and priorities of our team members and our company. 

For the past ten years, our fundamental values, our core values, have guided Liberty team members’ decisions and actions, providing clarity on what it means to truly make a positive impact on the military families we serve. Liberty’s core values were forged to guide team members throughout our daily operations: 

• Balance: We all take the responsibility for creating and maintaining a healthy work-life balance for ourselves and each other. 

• Commitment: We passionately strive each day to deliver on our mission to serve our residents, our partners, and each other. 

• Integrity: We are honest and truthful; we do what is right - ALWAYS. 

• Respect: We strive to treat others as we would like to be treated. 

• Empowerment: Each of us is encouraged to take initiative, ownership, and make good business decisions in the best interest of those we serve. 

• Communication: Our interactions with each other are respectful, we listen with an open mind, provide honest feedback, and are receptive to new ideas. 

As we honor the 10th anniversary of Liberty’s core values, we reflect on the importance of these guiding pillars, especially as an ESOP. The shared ownership our employees have in our company compels our core values to not just be buzzwords on a page, but a culture that we actively strive to create every day. Each of us is encouraged to take initiative, ownership, and make good business decisions in the best interest of those we serve. 

Every year, we recognize team members who exemplify our core values as part of our Liberty Excellence (LEA) Awards to remind ourselves of their valuable service and the importance the core values play in our operations. Our team members nominate one another who live out these core values and demonstrate an employee-owner mentality, taking initiative to produce positive results. These recognitions serve as a reminder of the team effort required to create our company culture and how we all can support our common goal.
